Meet the team behind SAWERNI
Dr. Ghassan Alkoureiti is an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the University of Bahrain, specializing in advanced IS courses and curriculum development. He has coordinated the internship program and supervised numerous senior projects. His research interests include enterprise systems, IT governance, blockchain, socio-material IS practices, and game development. He holds certifications in CEH, PCAP, and COBIT5, and earned a BSc from the University of Bahrain (2009), an MSc from George Washington University (2013), and a PhD from the University of Lancaster (2018).
Ali, an Information Systems student at the University of Bahrain, was the Team Leader for SAWERNI, a photography and videography platform for the local market, developed for the ITIS499 capstone project using FlutterFlow and Firebase. He coordinated the project lifecycle, focusing on features like AI Auto Captioning, AI Dynamic Categorization, and AI Content Moderation. Ali implemented a non-addictive gamification system to enhance user engagement and employed Agile SDLC methodologies for project management, ensuring scalability and functionality to support Bahrain's media industry.
Hasan, an Information Systems student at the University of Bahrain, played a crucial role in developing the SAWERNI platform's technical infrastructure. He designed and managed the Firebase backend and architected the platform's data schema, which included vital collections such as Users, Posts, Comments, Events, Chats, ChatMessages, User Stats, and User Points. His database design focused on data integrity, scalability, and efficient retrieval. As a System Analyst, Hasan led the requirements elicitation process, converting stakeholder requirements into precise functional and non-functional specifications. He also created essential system models like Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs) and the Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD). Additionally, he oversaw quality assurance by developing and executing unit and functional testing plans to ensure SAWERNI's reliability and performance prior to release.
Ali Saleh, an Information Systems student at the University of Bahrain, played a pivotal role in shaping the SAWERNI platform's user interface and experience. He was responsible for designing and implementing the platform's comprehensive interface using FlutterFlow, which encompassed critical modules such as Login & Registration, Home Feed, Post Creation, Bookmarks, Comments, Chat & Messaging, Events, Explore & Search, User Profiles, Followers/Following, Gamification, and Settings. His design approach prioritized a clean, non-distractive aesthetic, differentiating SAWERNI from cluttered social media platforms. In addition to his UI contributions, Saleh also engaged in backend integration, effectively linking the UI components with Firebase for real-time updates, and participated in rigorous UI consistency testing to maintain a seamless experience throughout the platform.
